Kriegshog - Hardcore Hell EP and S/T LP (2007/2010, Black Seed Asia Records)

My boy Connor Mullins slammed out this review for a failed attempt at a zine a few months ago. rage on Connor

Holy. Fuck. Kriegshog seizes the utterly lifeless body of the contemporary crust punk dream and revives it by jamming a gigavolt of raw, raging hate up its ass. It’s no secret that many if not most crust bands write records with the intent of composing a soundtrack to the apocalypse. But these records ARE the fucking apocalypse. The sole critique I have of this LP is that a scarce handful of the tracks can be a tad repetitive, but given the genre, a flaw as typical as this almost isn’t even worth mentioning. I usually find myself feeling discontent when I listen to most people’s description of this band, because merely classifying this as “Crust” or “D-beat” really doesn’t do justice to the intricate and refined yet chaotic and cacophonous sound these dudes have developed. To say tracks like “Mutation” and “Burn” along with most of the rest of them on this collection do anything but utterly bludgeon the listeners sympathies for all the thinly-veiled heinous and depraved activity of the fucked up world we live in would be a gross understatement. No matter how loud you blast these records, it will never, ever, be loud enough.

Swag.
